Gary Feldman, DPM, FACFAS, is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon who has practiced in Bethesda and Germantown for more than a quarter-century. Patients come to him for everything from stubborn heel pain to complex ankle reconstruction — and stay because he takes the time to explain what’s actually going on.

Training & credentials
Dr. Feldman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and his graduate degree from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his surgical training as chief resident at St. Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia, where he built the foundation for the reconstructive and trauma work that remains central to his practice today.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (FACFAS) — a credential built on advanced surgical training and ongoing peer review.
Sports medicine
Over 26 years in private practice, Dr. Feldman has developed a particular interest in sports medicine — the injuries that sideline runners, weekend athletes, and student athletes alike. He served as a team physician for D.C. United, Washington’s Major League Soccer club, and has been a medical liaison for George Washington University’s basketball, soccer, and gymnastics programs.
He has also served as team physician for area high school football programs, and previously worked as a part-time editor for The Physician and Sportsmedicine, a journal read by sports medicine clinicians nationwide.
Teaching & service
Dr. Feldman practices as a partner in The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics, Maryland Orthopedic Specialists division, and is on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Chevy Chase Surgical Center, and Watkins Mills Ambulatory Surgery Center.
He’s an active contributor to the MedStar/Georgetown residency training program, where he helps train the next generation of foot and ankle surgeons — work he previously did with the INOVA Hospital residency program as well. His commitment to care beyond his own patients has taken him abroad, too: through the nonprofit Bear Hug Foundation, he has traveled to El Salvador to provide treatment to communities without regular access to medical care.
Home team
Dr. Feldman was raised in Montgomery County, and he’s chosen to raise his own family here too — a connection to the community that shapes how he practices. Outside the office, he’s an avid runner, cyclist, and golfer, which gives him a personal understanding of what it means to want to get back on your feet.
